Selling Your Kittens

If you already have suitable homes ready for your kittens, invite the new owners to visit them regularly. The kittens will not be fully vaccinated until they are twelve weeks old and so visitors must go through strict hygiene procedures. Always get them to wash their hands with a disinfectant solution before handling the young kittens. Early handling by the new owners is important as this will give them the opportunity to form a bond with the kitten that is to become a part of their household.

If your cat has produced more kittens than you have homes for, you may need to advertise. Most cat breed clubs offer the service of a kitten list and this is a good place to start - the prospective buyer has at least gone to the bother of find out about the relevant cat breed club. You can also advertise in local papers and specialist cat magazines. From these sources the purchasers are an unknown entity and it is up to you to question them thoroughly to ensure their suitability.
